Our Parents' Association

Educational research on the involvement of parents in schools shows that children achieve higher levels when parents and teachers work together. The Parents' Association is a support for parents in the school. The Parents' Association works with the principal, staff and the board of management to build effective partnership of home and school.

The Parents' Association at St. Columba’s College plays a vital role in supporting the school community. It serves as a platform for parents to collaborate, share ideas, and contribute to the school’s development.

Structure & Meetings

• The association is elected every two years (Current Term: 2024-2026).
• Meetings are held on a monthly basis to discuss key initiatives and concerns.

Parents' Association Mission & Activities

• Sharing Ideas & Mutual Support – Providing a space for parents to exchange insights and offer guidance to one another.
• School Policies – Advise the principal and Board of Management on policy issues and incidents that may require a review of school policy, e.g. Bullying, Safety, Homework, Enrolment, Behaviour problems etc.
• Supporting School Activities – Engaging in various school events and initiatives and invite speakers to address the parents on issues which are topical or relevant to enhance the student experience.
• Fundraising for Identified Projects – Organizing events and campaigns to raise funds for school improvements and student resources.
• Building a Strong Community – Strengthening the connection between parents, students, and staff to create a supportive and inclusive school environment.

The Parents' Association is always open to new ideas and welcomes participation from all parents. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on our school community!
