Our New Special Class

St Columba’s College is pleased to announce the opening of a new Special Class for students with Autism for the 2026/2027 school year. This class has been sanctioned by the National Council for Special Education (NCSE) to support students with additional educational needs in a structured and supportive environment.

Enrolment is open to students who meet the eligibility criteria as set out by the NCSE and the Department of Education. Our aim is to provide an inclusive, caring and supportive learning environment where every student is enabled to reach their full potential.

Eligibility Criteria

• A formal diagnosis of Autism, provided by a qualified professional (such as a psychologist, psychiatrist, or multidisciplinary team).
• Professional reports that clearly outline your child’s individual needs and level of support required.
• A recommendation from professionals indicating that a special class setting is the most suitable educational placement for your child.
• A letter from the NCSE confirming that your child meets the criteria for a special class for Autism.

Application Process

The school will start accepting applications for admission to the special class on the 19th of March 2026.

The school shall stop accepting applications for admission to the special class on the 3rd of April 2026

Parents/guardians who wish to apply for a place in the Special Class should complete the enrolment form below and submit it along with all relevant documentation.

Completed applications can be returned to the school office.

Please note that all applications will be considered in line with Department of Education and NCSE guidelines. Placement offers are subject to verification of eligibility.
