Child Safeguarding
St Columba’s College takes its responsibility to safeguard all students in our care extremely seriously.
We are fully committed to creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing environment where every student feels protected and supported.
Designated Liason Officers
Our school has two Child Safeguarding Officers:
- Designated Liaison Person (DLP) - Mr Tom Rowan, Principal
- Deputy Designated Liaison Person (DDLP) - Ms Georgina White, Deputy Principal
Our Safeguarding Measures
The school seeks to ensure that every reasonable step is taken to safeguard the children in its care. These measures include:
- Vetting of all staff who work with children.
- Employment of fully registered teachers with the Teaching Council.
- Provision of continuous professional development (CPD) for all staff in child protection and welfare.
- An annual written risk assessment, reviewed and published each year.
- An annual Child Safeguarding Statement, reviewed and published each year.
- Support for students and families who may have experienced difficulties relating to child welfare and/or child protection.
- Compliance with the procedures laid down by the Department of Education & Skills.
